This award-winning cookbook was brilliantly orchestrated by the Ravinia Festival Women’s Board as a way to raise money for music scholarships and the venerated music festival. This harmonious collection of more than 600 recipes is the result of three years of collecting, testing, tasting, collating, and indexing. These dishes stand the test of …

Since 1904, Ravinia has been Chicago’s “sound of summer,” a place where you can meet up with your friends, have a wonderful time and hear some of the greatest music in the world. We’ve got stars on the stage and stars in the sky, and it’s all within your reach. But there’s more to Ravinia than merely the world’s greatest music. For as many people who walk through Ravinia’s gate each summer, there are just as many ways to enjoy what we call “The Ravinia Experience.” For some, it all starts with a picnic picked up along the way, followed by a hop on the train and greeting your friends at your favorite spot on the lawn. Gradually, day turns into evening, and from the comfort of your perfect lawn spot, it culminates in a great concert by candlelight as you gaze at the stars above.

Creating True ProsperityNew Paperback Edition
This practical handbook presents Shakti Gawain’s definition of prosperity, one that places importance on the fulfillment of our real desires rather than the amount of money we have. Most people equate prosperity with money — if they only had more of it, they would prosper. In this new, innovative look at self-fulfillment, personal-growth pioneer Shakti Gawain shows us the pitfalls of such thinking — how people, regardless of their wealth, eventually find money fails to offer true contentment. Shakti Gawain presents a new definition of prosperity, one that places importance on fulfillment of the heart and soul rather than on monetary gain. She dismantles the cause-and-effect relationship most people construct around money and happiness, without ignoring the important role money plays in our lives. She challenges us to pay attention to our deepest longings, and yet to discard false desires. Shakti shows us how to create true prosperity, which includes satisfying relationships, happiness, and fulfillment. Her unique method of self-examination helps readers recognize the paradoxical relationships they establish with money. Instead of either denying its value or giving it too much importance, Gawain shows how money can be used to teach people to identify where they need more balance in their lives, freeing them to pursue fulfilling relationships and personal satisfaction — the main ingredients of true prosperity. She speaks with authority and warmth as she sheds new understanding on a subject that concerns us all.

“While embracing the reality that finances are an important aspect of personal prosperity, she shows how money can be used to teach people to identify where more balance is needed in their lives and ultimately, achieve the freedom to pursue fulfilling rel

New Perspectives

New Perspectives

Debbie has an interesting nonfiction tale to tell. I reccomend getting her newsletters, or if you need a coach, perhpas check her out. Read on for this is a great way to learn more. Mary

Mary,

Oh, I am pretty darn excited to let you know about this :) One of my first “students” of the mentoring program - Tisha Kulak Tolar - has just published her first novel. You might remember her from the testimonials on the MakeMoneyFromWriting.com website. If you haven’t seen her video testimonial yet, make sure you check her out (she’ll be embarassed I reminded people about that, but hey - if I gotta have a video on there, so does she!)

Her novel, “Gen X”, was written about 10 years ago. She recently polished it up and sent it out to get published. It can best be described as chic-lit, or women’s fiction.
Here’s a little summary:

Genevieve Xavier is twenty-two years old, living in Philadelphia and sharing a house with Jared. Their two-year relationship, painfully platonic, is effortless and amusing. Jared has a healthy appetite for big breasts and one night stands, while Gen has her eye on her movie star crush, Jackson, with whom she gets to work. But one night, the non-physical line is obliterated and life as they know it is altered forever. The roommates reveal some long-hidden secrets and in the afterglow, Jared is encouraged to do what his heart desires most and he takes Gen to a local comedy club. Surprising everyone, Jared takes the stage and blows the audience away with his natural comedic abilities. Leaving the club ecstatic with Jared’s triumph and their newfound love, they head back to the bedroom. Then the phone rings.

The comedy club owner tells Jared a talent agent is waiting to meet with him. Dino, the head of Randall Talent Agency, makes Jared an offer he can’t refuse. Overnight, Jared and Gen’s biggest dreams come to fruition - Jared working in stand up and Gen managing his career.

If you want to know what happens next, you’ll have to read the book :)

The book is available through Tisha’s store on Lulu.com . In about 6 weeks it will also be available on Amazon.com.

Tisha is proof that you can work on your fiction writing (if that’s what you want to do) while you’re writing for online markets to earn a living. Congratulations, Tisha!

How’s everyone else? Any more success stories to share?

NM thriller honored at Florida film festival
Fat Man Media, a New Mexico-based film production company, received the award for Best Drama at the Motion Film Festival, a Tampa, Florida-based festival dedicated to making an investment into the art community, for its short film On the Bus. It was written and produced by Jonathan Harnisch and Maureen Cooke, and directed by Willie Ford. “We are pleased to receive the award for Best Drama at the Motion Film Festival for On the Bus,” said Jonathan Harnisch, executive producer for Fat Man Media. “The amount of national attention On the Bus has received from film festivals has been remarkable and we are very proud of the awards and honors the film has received.”
Earlier this year, “On the Bus” was awarded five “Indie” awards including Award of Excellence for the film, Award of Excellence for its Lead Actor Mark Schrier, Award of Merit for directing, and two Awards of Merit for writing. “On the Bus” also received three awards at The Accolade Film Festival including Award of Excellence for Actor Mark Schrier, Award of Merit for directing, and Award of Merit for editing.
“On the Bus” is a psychological thriller about the experiences of Larry (played by Mark Schrier), a mentally disturbed man, who rides a bus and bothers passengers based on recent circumstances in his life. The film has a surprise ending that startles the audience, but ties the fragmented story together in a dramatic conclusion.

Book overview
Today we are experiencing extraordinary technological advances in the diagnosis and treatment of illness while at the same time learning to take more responsibility for our own health and well-being. In this book, Saki Santorelli, director of the nationally acclaimed Stress Reduction Clinic, explores the ancient roots of medicine, and shows us how to introduce mindfulness into the crucible of the healing relationship. His approach revolutionizes the dynamics between the patient and the practitioner. In describing the classes at the clinic and the transformation that takes place in this alchemical process, he offers insights and effective methods for cultivating mindfulness in our everyday lives. As he reveals the inner landscape of his own life as a health care professional and we join him and those with whom he works on this journey of human suffering and courage, we become aware of and honor what is darkest and brightest within each one of us.
