A Tool I Can DEFINITELY Get Behind!

by Ally

903265_reading_old_handwriting.jpgI must send out a massive THANK YOU to PGARDAPEE- a super sweet woman I know from the Work At Home Moms forum for this great tool.

Read Me Please is a free download trial software that will provide a (computerized) voice to read any text you paste into its screen. I used it this morning for a final proofread before I sent a project to a client, and I did find one mistake that I had missed from multiple other read-throughs!

Bonuses:

  • Reads numerals out loud
  • Reading speed is adjustable
  • Cost is VERY affordable after the free trial

Some issues:

  • Won’t help you with word confusions such as are/our
  • Doesn’t get some newer words (example: geocache)
  • When you write “and/or” it says “and slash or” (a little distracting)

Overall, I’d say this is a great investment to add to your arsenal of proofreading/editing tools. It’s very important to always send your best work on to the client!

Geocache? Were you writing/proofreading an article about geocaching? The word jumped out at me– my husband and I love gecoaching! It’s one of our favorite hobbies!

I just think it’s neat that the word made it into your post, and now you’ve got me curious as to why it did. LOL!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Allena Says:

    Hey there Julia,

Actually I was writing an article on Gardners multiple intelligences, and geochaching is likely to be a fave activity of those with naturalistic intelliegence.

  3. Allena Says:

It is geocacheing or geocaching without the E- my spell check reconized neither.

  4. Pamela Says:

Ally, I am glad you enjoyed the proofreading tool. I have been using for everything. I am catching mistakes, especially when I write so fast on something I know about. I will be buying it after my free trail.

I am glad you posted about so others can take advantage of it as well.

    Thanks

    Pam

  5. Allena Tapia Says:

    Thanks P-
    Yeah it’s a great tool.
