Will you remember drinking another cup of coffee today?

A few weeks ago we got this email from a donor named John. In his words “I can’t afford large sums right now, but I can surely forego some coffees or afternoon sodas from the vending machine and send that along to someone who really needs it.”

1) Your favorite charity. Make a list. Pick three. Whether or not we have hard times, they all still need our help.
2) Your words can hold power, or rather empower ment. Now start thinking where you can put them to work.
Five ways your writing could help your charities.
1) Grant writing. Yes charge the standard 10% for the job when you get the grant.
2) Copy. Offer to write ad campaigns, letters, endorsements (free).
3) Concepts: Perhaps target a specific project, you could even create a fundraiser. IF the organization accepts the concept, do #2. Also add press releases, articles for papers, etc.
4) Online promotion. One group recently targeted a % of commissions earned during a giveaway to charity. You could twiiter up a storm. Blog for a period of time for the project, include their url wherver you go. Be creative and create abundance.
5)Do as the author who set up the discussion did. Social networking ultimately is self promotion as well.
6) Send some dollars to your favorite cause.
7) Do writing for other local bizes who would donate part of your fee to the charity. Or create a temporary newsletter, that writes about bizes who will donate to the charity.
I welcome your comments. Mary MacIntyre
