Scheduling Your Freelance Writing
I am having hard time making some scheduling decisions this month. I have a client who could potentially take up all of March, which is fine, as the pay also meets my March income goals. However, it is most likely that that pay won’t come until April, leaving my March income very skimpy.
That’s difficult. Do I look for additional March projects in order to round out my March income, even though, in reality, this client should take most of my March time to meet the deadline? Or, do I go ahead and devote March to this client, meet the deadline easily, but not meet my March income goals.
It’s very likely going to be choice three: do both, therefore working myself into a jello heap, imposing on my family time and burning myself out.
Good times.

This is a biggie I’ve struggled with at times, too. It’s a difficult decision to make. I can’t tell you how many times I doubled my work, just so I could meet my current monthly income goal, then ended up stressed out to the max. Good luck with your choice/decision!

We generally end up with choice three, as well. We stretch ourselves further than we’d like, but we have income for both months to show for it. Good luck!

I went through this once, and the stress of worrying when that check would arrive made me wish I had turned down that big job. If I had been in a better financial situation, I wouldn’t have worried. But even now, I try not to spend my time on only one project. No telling what could happen. Clients flake, pay gets delayed, ya just never know.
Nice blog, by the way.

Ally! Dealing with them both should turn out to be the best decision. Just make certain that your March goal is the primary one since it’s already set-up for you.
